History of Reiki
Reiki Natural Healing is a sacred Japanese method of hands-on healing founded by Dr Mikao Usui in the late 1800's. He dedicated in discovering and developing this particular healing practice that allows the specific flow of life-force energy connection to be given as Reiki.
The sacred practice of Usui System of Natural Healing has been handed down through a lineage of Grand Masters for more than 100 years. Dr Chujiro Hayashi, a retired Japanese Imperial Naval Officer Doctor, became a dedicated student of Reiki after his own Reiki healing with Dr Usui. He mentored with Dr. Usui at a clinic in Tokyo treating many others physical, mental and spiritual ailments with Reiki for years, resulting in Dr Usui recognizing Dr Hayashi as our second Grand Master when he transitioned from this life.
Our third Grand Master, Japanese-American Hawaiian born Hawayo Takata, was originally treated with Reiki by Dr Hayashi in Japan. She overcame her physical ailments that required surgery and was deeply touched by recognizing the powerful healing effects of Reiki. Takata stayed in Japan to learn Reiki and was “entrusted” the practice of Reiki to spread the healing energy throughout the Islands of Hawaii and eventually the world. She opened the first Reiki practice outside of Japan in 1936 and was recognized as our third lineage bearer by Dr Hayashi at the time of his transition. Reiki is today practiced by individuals of all cultures, ages, and spiritual backgrounds through Reiki treatments and training's benefiting the healing energy worldwide.
Takata recognized her granddaughter Phyllis Lei Furumoto as our current Lineage Bearer and fourth Grand Master. She carries her work the original way it was entrusted through clarifying and defining The Usui System of Natural Healing as Usui Shiki Ryoho. Reiki With Jenna is honored to continue to teach the lineage of Usui Shiki Ryoho in the essence in the manor Reiki was entrusted from Japan since 1936.
